The family confirmed the death in a statement posted to Facebook on December 13, describing Wilson as a beloved family member and outlining his achievements and ongoing projects.

Wilson rose to online prominence as the 'unboxing guy' and built a broad audience across platforms, with roughly 1.1 million followers on TikTok, more than 2.1 million subscribers on YouTube, and over 200,000 followers on Instagram. He also shared insights on gaming and entertainment in addition to tech, and collaborated with brands including Xbox, Apple and Nintendo.

In 2013, Wilson appeared on Takei's Take with George Takei, reviewing Google Glass, a collaboration that helped earn a Webby Award the following year. He launched his YouTube channel in 2008 and later transitioned to short-form vertical videos in 2021, drawing audiences across multiple platforms. He also made appearances at industry events, including VidCon 2025, where he participated in a panel on cross-generational content.

Wilson's reach extended through brand partnerships over the years, including work with Xbox, Apple and Nintendo. His last posts were shared on November 12, including a Holiday Tech Gift Guide, and a few months earlier in October he celebrated turning 48 with a birthday post documenting health progress and personal reflections. His family’s statement said he had many projects in the works with various tech and media companies and that he had been contracted to contribute to the CES Innovation Awards scheduled for January 4, 2026 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas.

The family acknowledged the loss as they described Wilson as a dedicated professional who influenced countless viewers and mentored aspiring creators. Fans across YouTube, TikTok and Instagram offered condolences in response to the news of his passing, with many noting the impact of his energetic and informative content on their tech journeys.
