An investigation is underway into a Dallas shooting that killed two people and wounded a third during the transfer of detainees at an immigration processing facility, authorities said. The gunman has been identified as 29-year-old Joshua Jahn, who died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after the attack, according to the FBI. The agency said it is investigating the case as an act of targeted violence.

Investigators described the attack as taking place on Sept. 24, when the shooter fired from a rooftop as detainees were being moved into the facility and as the portcullis to the site was open. The bullets bore the inscription 'ANTI-ICE,' and authorities found a stripper clip with the same message near Jahn's body, the FBI said. 'It is being investigated as an act of targeted violence,' said Joe Rothrock, the FBI's Dallas field office special agent in charge, at a briefing.

This incident marks the third attack on ICE or Customs and Border Protection facilities since July, according to federal officials, underscoring a pattern of violence against immigration enforcement sites. The investigation also comes as public rhetoric about immigration enforcement has intensified in some political circles. Officials also cited a July 4 attack on an immigration processing site in Alvarado, Texas, as part of the broader pattern of violence against immigration facilities.

Authorities emphasized that the investigation is continuing, with agents reviewing security footage, ballistic evidence, and witness statements. They noted no additional suspects have been identified.
