Greyhound worker stabbed at Port Authority; suspect in custody
Early-morning attack at Manhattan transit hub leaves employee with non-life-threatening injuries; suspect arrested and charged

A Greyhound bus terminal worker was stabbed by a woman at the Port Authority Bus Terminal in Manhattan on Tuesday morning, authorities said. The attack occurred as the morning rush began, with witnesses describing a confrontation near a ticket booth at about 6:53 a.m. The victim, a 25-year-old employee, sustained injuries described as non-life-threatening and was taken to Bellevue Hospital for evaluation, according to Port Authority officials.
The suspect, Angelle Thompson, 35, of Somerville, New Jersey, was arrested nearby and faces charges of attempted murder, assault and weapons possession, police said.
Investigators indicated the assault followed a prior dispute between the two individuals, though authorities said the investigation is ongoing. The Port Authority Police Department said it is reviewing surveillance video and interviewing witnesses to determine the full sequence of events. Officials noted that the incident occurred during a period of heavy foot traffic as commuters began their day at one of the nation’s busiest transit hubs.
The attack prompted a rapid police response. Officers moved quickly to control bleeding and secure the scene, with bystanders reporting a heavy law enforcement presence as buses and trains continued to operate. The victim received medical care at the scene before being transported to Bellevue Hospital for further treatment. Officials stressed that there were no immediate threats to other passengers reported at the time.
The Port Authority Bus Terminal serves as a major gateway for regional and long-distance travel, and authorities emphasized the importance of rapid emergency response to safeguard workers and riders during peak hours. The investigation is expected to clarify how the dispute began and whether there were any preceding incidents in the terminal.
Authorities said the investigation remains active and asked anyone with information to contact the Port Authority Police Department. More details will be released as they become available.
