Indiana mother of two dies in suspected carbon monoxide poisoning while power washing barn

A 45-year-old mother of two died of suspected carbon monoxide poisoning while power washing a barn on her property in Howard County, Indiana, authorities said Friday. Lacy Leigha Alexander was found inside a pole barn on her property while using a gas-powered power washer to clean a stall area, the Howard County Coroner's Office said. An autopsy performed Monday found no immediate evidence of foul play, and the final cause of death is pending, the coroner said.

Alexander, a longtime employee at Haynes International, worked as a Senior Laboratory Technician for 23 years, specializing in cobalt and nickel alloys used in high-temperature applications, according to her obituary. She and her husband, Joe Alexander, were married in 2006, and they raised two children, Alannah and Braxton. Those who knew her described a devoted parent who cherished family moments and invested in her children’s activities. She enjoyed crafting, was an avid Chicago Cubs fan, and documented family moments on video during vacations. She coached her daughter's softball team and her son's baseball and All-Star teams for the past two years.
