Suspect in ABC Sacramento Station Shooting Accused; note referencing Trump officials labeled 'next'
63-year-old Anibal Hernandez Santana charged in federal and state cases after shooting at ABC 10 in Sacramento; investigators found a note referencing Epstein and Trump administration officials as 'next' inside his car.

A man fired into the KXTV/ABC 10 building in Sacramento on Sept. 19 with a Sub Compact 9mm handgun, authorities said. No one was injured as employees sheltered in place and the station paused operations while investigators secured the scene.
Sacramento Police identified the suspect via surveillance video as Anibal Hernandez Santana, 63, and said he was operating a white Nissan Kicks at the time of the shooting. He was charged in federal and local cases with possession of a firearm within a school zone, discharge of a firearm within a school zone and interference with a radio communications station. The shooting occurred about 834 feet from a high school and near an elementary school, prosecutors noted.
Three days before the incident, on Sept. 16, federal prosecutors allege Santana walked to a nearby elementary school unannounced, wearing military-style pants, an army cap and dark sunglasses. He asked if he could read to the children; a staffer said that wouldnt be possible without clearance as a volunteer. He left a note saying, "I would like to read to young students in my spare time." A school employee described him as weird and anxious, saying he appeared very out of character. The employee added, "If he gets out of custody, we are scared for our schools safety."
Sacramento police arrested Santana at his apartment that evening. Investigators found a dark satchel consistent with the one seen on surveillance video and a Sub Compact 9mm handgun inside, with an empty magazine found inside the weapon. A planner in the apartment showed days of the week; under Friday, the date of the shooting, detectives found the handwritten line "Do the Next Scary Thing." Detectives also found a handgun magazine and the bullet casing matching the scene at the station.
After an initial booking, Santana was released Saturday, Sept. 20, but was later re-arrested. Authorities also spoke with Santanas estranged wife in the course of their investigation.
While reviewing Santanas car, investigators recovered a handwritten note that referenced Jeffrey Epstein and stated certain Trump administration officials were "next." The note read, "For hiding Epstein & ignoring red flags. Do not support Patel, Bongino, & AG Pam Bondi. Theyre next. C.K. from above."
Family attorney Mark Reichel told Fox News Digital that it is highly unusual for a person to face simultaneous state and federal charges for the same conduct. "Right now, my client is innocent unless and until 12 jurors in each case say otherwise," he said. He added that Santanas social media activity has been discussed in the case and that he respects due process. "Theres two sides to every story," he said.
There were no injuries reported at ABC 10, and authorities said the investigation remains ongoing. Police released images from the scene to show damage to a window, and crime tape remained in place as officials reviewed surveillance footage and gathered evidence.
