The View audience groans after Alyssa Farah Griffin predicts Trump would win if 2024 election reheld today

The View audience groaned Friday after Alyssa Farah Griffin predicted that Donald Trump would likely defeat Kamala Harris if the 2024 election were held again today. On the show during a discussion about the Democratic Party's outreach, Griffin said she believed Trump would win by the same margin or bigger if the race were re-held.

Griffin's remark drew a reaction from host Joy Behar, who pressed for clarification. Griffin attributed the statement to the country's deep political divide, saying that the country is now highly polarized and that those who disliked Trump before likely feel the same or stronger. She noted that some voters have buyer's remorse, but cited data she said shows Republicans still lead on top issues.

Griffin, a Republican who served as Trump's White House communications director during his first term, resigned after the 2020 election, telling Politico at the time that she saw where this was heading and was uncomfortable helping push a message that might lead to different results. She joined The View in 2022 and has since said she voted for Harris in the 2024 election.

Harris, 60, appeared on The View this week for the first time since before the election, saying there was not a thing she would do differently from Biden if elected and noting that the loss was tied to the rising cost of living. Harris told the hosts that Trump had lied about addressing those issues.

The View has also hosted President Biden earlier this year, underscoring the show's ongoing engagement with major political figures as the 2024-25 cycle continues.
