14-year-old stabbed five times in Whittington park; three teens bailed as investigation continues

A 14-year-old girl was stabbed multiple times in the back, neck and arm in a park in Whittington, near Worcester, on Sunday night, police said. She has since been treated in hospital and returned home to recover.

Three teenage girls were arrested after the attack and released on bail while detectives continue the inquiry.

The assault was reported to police at around 7:40 p.m. after neighbours reported screaming, and officers and forensic teams were seen collecting evidence. A section of The Tara and Clews Close park was cordoned off during the investigation.

The victim's mother told reporters that her daughter had returned home and was resting, though very sore. "My daughter is back home now and resting, she's doing okay, just very sore," she said. "She is the strongest and most resilient girl I know. She was stabbed five times in her back, back of her neck and arm."

Nigel Huddleston, the Conservative MP for Droitwich and Evesham, said he was deeply concerned to learn of the stabbing and urged patience as investigators seek to establish exactly what happened. "I understand that the victim, a 14-year-old girl, is in hospital and in a stable condition," he said. "My thoughts are with her and her family at this deeply distressing time, and I hope she makes a full speedy recovery."

Residents in Whittington expressed shock at the incident, which local officials said is unusual for the area. Police said the investigation remains ongoing, and they urged anyone with information to come forward.
