A young boy is fighting for his life in hospital after a hit-and-run in Bournemouth, police said. A white BMW 118 series failed to stop at the scene and was traced later, leading to two people being arrested in connection with the incident.
The collision occurred shortly after 11:30 a.m. on Holdenhurst Road in Bournemouth, Dorset. Paramedics transported the child to hospital with injuries described as potentially life-changing, and his family have been informed.
Police said in a statement that investigators were alerted at 11:38 a.m. to a pedestrian collision involving a car on Holdenhurst Road and that the driver of the white BMW failed to stop at the scene. The incident prompted road closures while emergency services attended.
Following rapid inquiries at the scene, police tracked the vehicle and arrested a man and a woman in connection with the incident. They remain in custody as the investigation continues.
