Carnival cruise passenger from the U.S. missing after leaving ship in Bonaire
A 47-year-old American passenger on the Carnival Horizon told crew she did not want to be found as Bonaire authorities investigate her disappearance.

A Carnival Horizon passenger, Jessica Collins, a 47-year-old American, was reported missing after leaving the ship during a Bonaire port call on Sept. 17. Officials said she told crew she did not want to be found.
Collins had initially disembarked Bonaire on Sept. 13 with most of her luggage packed in a backpack, leaving cash and a note of thanks for a stateroom attendant. When she did not return to the ship at the end of the port call, the vessel’s Care Team attempted to contact her. She texted back that she was safe and did not want to be found or contacted again. Bonaire Police said they opened an investigation in coordination with Carnival, and that Collins left behind the bulk of her luggage but carried her identification.
Surveillance footage released by Bonaire authorities shows Collins exiting the ship with a gray backpack and wearing a Hawaiian T-shirt and cargo shorts.
Carnival Cruise Line said it is cooperating with local authorities and noted that Collins appears to have taken deliberate action to be alone and uncontactable.
The eight-day Southern Caribbean itinerary on which Collins traveled began Sept. 13 in Miami. The ship then departed for a Western Caribbean voyage on Sunday, according to CruiseMapper.
Authorities said the investigation remains ongoing and there is no additional information to release at this time.
