Dallas ICE shooting leaves two migrants dead; gunman Jahn dies by suicide, investigators say motive appears ideological

An early-morning shooting at a Dallas Immigration and Customs Enforcement facility left two detainees dead and a third seriously wounded, authorities said Wednesday. The attacker, identified as Joshua Jahn, 29, opened fire from an elevated position as migrants were being transported in an unmarked ICE van, then killed himself as officers closed in. Investigators described the incident as a targeted attack on ICE personnel and detainees, with the investigation focusing on a possible ideological motive.

The shooting occurred around 7 a.m. Central Time, when witnesses said the gunman fired repeatedly at the ICE office and peppered a transport van with bullets, shattering windows in the building in the process. One witness, Arianny Sierra, told NBC News she heard what sounded like about 20 shots in a row while waiting for her husband at an ICE appointment nearby. Federal authorities later confirmed that the victims were detainees and that no law enforcement officers were injured during the attack. A photograph of the crime scene circulated by law enforcement showed the gunman positioned on the roof of a nearby building as migrants were loaded into the vehicle below.

FBI Director Kash Patel released images of bullets recovered at the scene, with marks indicating the shells bore the words
