Family of teen killed in Gold Coast e-bike crash issues heartfelt message to driver
Friends of the riders mourn as police investigate the collision on the Gold Coast, and a GoFundMe is launched to support the families.

A 17-year-old boy, Hudson Gagg, died at the scene after an e-bike collision with a Mitsubishi Outlander at an intersection in Tallebudgera on Queensland’s Gold Coast Monday afternoon. His best friend, Jydon Meyers, also 17, was seriously injured and transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with leg and facial injuries. The Mitsubishi driver, a 65-year-old Robina man, was treated at a hospital for shock and emotional distress.
The families issued a message to the driver, expressing sorrow and offering support. Jydon Meyers’s mother, Kylie Meyers, said the families were deeply sorry for the driver who is carrying an unimaginable burden and asked for prayers and compassion during a profoundly difficult time.
Ms Meyers described the two boys as lifelong friends who were enjoying a day of adventure together and were, in her words, doing what they loved most. She recalled Hudson as a bright, spirited young man with a radiant smile, and she noted that the two families shared a bond built on laughter, love, and a lifetime of memories. As Jydon begins a long road to recovery, the families emphasized the support they will provide each other in this shared grief.
As the community mourns, Ms Meyers has set up a GoFundMe to help ease the financial burden on the families and support their ongoing recovery efforts. Tributes poured in from locals who gathered at the scene, laying flowers near a wooden post at the intersection and posting condolences online for Hudson and Jydon.
Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the crash continue. Police are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage to contact them on 131 444.
