Family pleads for missing teacher Nazire Koreli to return on one-year disappearance anniversary
Daughter of Nazire Koreli appeals for information as police keep an open mind; a man in his 50s remains on bail in a murder investigation and Crimestoppers offers a £20,000 reward.

On the one-year anniversary of Nazire Koreli's disappearance, the 55-year-old teacher's daughter issued an emotional plea for information that could bring her mother home. Koreli vanished from her Welling residence in September 2024 and was not reported missing until five months later, as concerns about her welfare grew in the southeast London community. She was a familiar figure in the area, often seen walking her dog, Diego, in Stevens Park.
Scotland Yard has reviewed hours of CCTV footage and conducted an extensive search of Koreli's home, but her whereabouts remain unknown. A man in his 50s arrested six months ago on suspicion of murder remains on police bail as investigators press on with the inquiry. A Crimestoppers reward of £20,000 is being offered for information that could help solve the case, valid for three months, with the charity guaranteeing that anyone who contacts Crimestoppers stays 100 percent anonymous.
In a statement shared with investigators, Koreli's daughter described the impact of her mother's disappearance: "My world stood still the day I discovered my mother was missing. Since then, not a day has passed without questions. She was a teacher for many years, beloved by many. A mother, daughter, sister, aunt, and now a grandmother. I have had to learn to live with the unknown and be strong for my family's sake. But while she is missing, and we have no answers, life will never be the same. If you have any information, no matter how small, that could help us find her, or bring us some closure, I urge you to please contact the police. Even the smallest detail could make a difference."
Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley, of Specialist Crime South, said: "It's been a year since Nazire was last seen and her family remain without the answers they deserve. We continue to keep an open mind and share our optimism with Nazire's family that she will be found safe and well. Nazire had many friends and acquaintances in the Bexley area and we are asking anyone who knew her to think back and contact us if they saw her between September 2024 and March 2025. She is described as a woman of a slim build, with light brown hair and olive skin. If you have seen her, please contact us."
Police describe Koreli as a slim-built woman with light brown hair and olive skin. Anyone with information about her whereabouts should contact Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111 or via their website crimestoppers-uk.org. Information to police can be submitted through the Major Incident Public Portal, calling 101, or by referencing Met CC CAD 5678 of 28 February.
The investigation continues in the Bexley area, where Koreli was a known presence in the community. Her daughter and other relatives say they remain hopeful that she will be found safe and that answers will come through the ongoing inquiry.
