HGVs and trailers destroyed after harbour fire in Methil, Fife; police say no criminality

Emergency services were called at about 09:20 to Harbour View in Methil, Fife, where a blaze destroyed a number of heavy goods vehicles and trailers stored at the harbour. Seven fire crews were deployed to tackle the flames, and the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze had been extinguished. There were no reported injuries, and Police Scotland said no criminality had been established and the area had been made safe.

The fire sent thick smoke into the sky and prompted authorities to urge residents to keep doors and windows closed and to avoid the harbour while crews worked to bring the flames under control. The Fire Service also warned of heavy smoke in the area as containment operations continued. The last appliance left the scene just after 13:00, by which time officials said multiple heavy goods vehicles and trailers were affected by the blaze.
