Hit-and-run in Bournemouth; Glasgow hotel stabbing inquiry advances
Two arrests after a white BMW struck a child in Bournemouth; separate Glasgow case moves toward Fatal Accident Inquiry into a 2020 hotel attack that left multiple injured

A young boy remains in hospital with potentially life-changing injuries after a hit-and-run in Bournemouth, as police traced and arrested two suspects in connection with the incident. Emergency services were called after a pedestrian collision on Holdenhurst Road shortly before 11:30 a.m. on [the date], with investigators saying a white BMW 118 series failed to stop at the scene. Paramedics transported the boy to hospital, where doctors are treating him for injuries described as life-threatening. Police said the family has been informed and that the road was closed to allow responders to manage the scene.
Officers conducted fast-time inquiries at the scene, located the vehicle, and arrested a man and a woman in connection with the incident. They remain in police custody as the investigation continues. The child’s name has not been released.
In Scotland, a separate court action heard that threats were made 24 hours before a 2020 hotel rampage in Glasgow, during which an asylum seeker stabbed six people at the Park Inn hotel. Badreddin Abdalla Adam Bosh, a 28-year-old Sudanese national, attacked his victims on June 26, 2020. Police officers had attempted to use non-lethal weapons to disarm him before he was shot and killed at the scene. Among those injured were three asylum seekers, two hotel workers, and a police officer identified as David Whyte, who responded to the emergency.
A preliminary hearing at Glasgow Sheriff Court is underway in preparation for a full Fatal Accident Inquiry, a public examination of the circumstances surrounding a death in the public interest that does not apportion blame. Sheriff Principal Aisha Anwar referred transcripts for review and questioned what risk assessments were in place, noting a witness account that referenced prior threats. The advocate for the defense indicated that a draft joint evidence document and roughly 700 witness statements have been lodged, with evidential hearings expected to last four to five weeks.
Representatives for the next of kin said a firearms expert report is being prepared, with work expected to begin in October and a proposed deadline in early December. Bosh, who had come to the U.K. after first arriving in Ireland, had been among hundreds of asylum seekers moved from flats to hotels at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic, a policy that raised concerns about the mental health and welfare of vulnerable residents. A further preliminary hearing is scheduled for December to set out the list of witnesses cross-examined at the inquiry. A Fatal Accident Inquiry examines how a death occurred and is conducted in the public interest; it does not determine fault or liability.
