33-year-old from Watford died during a West Sussex balloon flight; authorities say the death is not suspicious
Jesus Lato Garzon, 33, of Watford, has been identified as the man who climbed out of a hot air balloon and plunged to his death during a commercial flight in West Sussex on Friday morning. The incident occurred around 9:20 a.m. near Newpound Common, Wisborough Green, as the balloon carried 16 passengers and a pilot on a route from Billingshurst to Dunsfold. Garzon had purchased the flight experience himself.
West Sussex Police said Garzon's death is not being treated as suspicious, and investigators are conducting inquiries on behalf of the coroner. A four-hour search using drones, officers and dogs located his body in a field. The event was recorded on the flight video and submitted to the police, the Commercial Ballooning Association said.
