Multiple injured after dockside shooting at NC restaurant; suspect flees on boat

A dockside shooting at a North Carolina restaurant left multiple people injured Saturday night after a passing boat opened fire on diners at the American Fish Company in the Southport Yacht Basin. The unidentified vessel pulled up to the restaurant shortly before 10 p.m. and fired into the crowd, according to the Star News. The boat then fled the scene, and as of 10:30 p.m., no suspects had been captured, City Manager Noah Saldo told the Star News.

The incident occurred at the American Fish Company, a dockside dining spot within Southport’s marina district along the Cape Fear River. Local authorities described it as a gunfire incident at a waterfront establishment, and they said the investigation was ongoing.

Authorities had not released further details about casualties, suspects, or a possible motive by late Saturday night. The Star News and other outlets continued to track the developing story, with officials emphasizing that information would be released as it became available.

The Southport Yacht Basin, a busy marina area that hosts restaurants and boating traffic, remained under heightened scrutiny as investigators pursued leads and reviewed evidence. City officials urged patience as they sought to piece together how the attack unfolded and why the vessel targeted the crowd at the restaurant.
