Multiple injured after dockside shooting in North Carolina; suspect flees on boat
A passing boat opened fire on diners at the American Fish Company in Southport; the vessel fled the scene and no suspects were in custody as of late Saturday night, authorities said.
A gunman aboard a passing boat fired into a crowd at the American Fish Company restaurant in Southport, North Carolina, injuring multiple diners Saturday night, authorities said.
The vessel pulled up to the restaurant in the Southport Yacht Basin shortly before 10 p.m. and fired into the crowd, according to the Star News. The boat then left the area with no suspects in custody as of about 10:30 p.m., City Manager Noah Saldo told the outlet.
Authorities did not immediately release a motive for the attack and said the investigation would continue, with officers collecting witness statements and reviewing evidence from the scene.
The incident occurred Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025, at the American Fish Company, a dockside dining spot in the coastal town of Southport along the Intracoastal Waterway.
No arrests were reported as of late Saturday night, and investigators asked anyone with information to contact local police.
