New father killed in Wisconsin drive-by hours after hole-in-one on golf trip
Police seek motive as investigators describe the shooting as random and no arrests have been made

Giovanni 'Mike' Robinson, 32, a Canadian tourist and new father, was killed in a drive-by shooting in Sheboygan Falls, Wisconsin, hours after celebrating his first hole-in-one on a golfing trip with friends.
Robinson achieved the feat on Tuesday, posing with the ball for photographs that he later texted to his family. Moments after finishing the round, he was shot as he walked back to his hotel, a car speeding away. Investigators described the suspect’s vehicle as a small, dark-colored SUV; police said the motive behind the shooting is unclear and they have not identified any suspects.
The Sheboygan Falls Police Department said in an update that when officers responded to reports of a shooting, they found Robinson suffering a fatal injury. Despite life saving measures being initiated and immediate medical attention rendered, the victim succumbed to their injury (and) was pronounced deceased at the scene. The department said that it is still working to determine the circumstances of the shooting, and that the motive behind the shooting is unclear. Local residents described Sheboygan Falls as typically quiet, safe and friendly; one resident, Melody Walls, said the town is a place where people should feel safe and asked, 'If you don't feel safe here, where are you safe?'
Robinson's family said they were stunned by the seemingly random murder, noting that he had sent them the hole-in-one photo earlier that day. He was described by friends as a fun-loving man from a lovely family, and his death has prompted an outpouring of condolences from their circle. One friend, Peter Elgie, wrote on social media that Robinson brought joy and goodness to those around him and that gun violence continues to wreak unknowable, generational trauma on endless families.
Investigators are seeking the suspect's vehicle and reviewing surveillance footage, but no arrests have been announced. A bartender at Falls Tap reportedly recognized Robinson as a customer Tuesday night and said the golfer and his group were kind and friendly, with no apparent issues that evening. Police have also noted that the shooting occurred on a road within walking distance of two schools, a detail that has amplified concerns among residents about safety in the normally quiet community.
The investigation remains active as authorities evaluate leads and attempt to reconstruct the sequence of events. The situation has unsettled a community known for its safety, prompting calls for answers from Robinson's family and friends as they grieve the loss of a man described by loved ones as devoted to his newborn child and to his golf-teaching initiatives for young players.
