Police have named the Norfolk couple who died in the A9 crash between Inverness and Aviemore as Teresa Dyer, 45, and Gareth Watts, 43. They died at the scene when their white Ford Fiesta collided with a white Vauxhall Vivaro van on the A9 at Slochd, around 07:10 on Monday, 15 September.

Two male occupants of the van were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness for treatment and were later discharged. The road was closed for about seven hours to allow investigators to examine the scene.

Sgt Chris Donaldson of the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit said, "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of Teresa and Gareth, who have asked for privacy at this time. Our investigation to establish what led to this collision is ongoing. We would urge anyone with information or dashcam footage from around that time, which would assist our enquiry, to get in touch."

Police have appealed for any witnesses who saw the crash or who may have dashcam footage from the A9 around the time of the incident to come forward. Investigators are reviewing traffic camera footage and speaking with emergency responders who attended the scene. There is no confirmed information yet about the exact sequence of events, and authorities say the investigation will consider all factors, including vehicle movements prior to the collision. While the A9 has re-opened in the hours following the incident, motorists are reminded to expect residual delays as officers continue to gather evidence and interview witnesses.}
