Teenage woman raped in Brighton during night out; police seek witnesses who checked on her
Sussex Police appeal for information after an alleged assault in central Brighton, with officers seeking an e-scooter rider and a woman who checked on the victim.

Sussex Police have launched an investigation after a teenage woman was raped during a night out with friends in Brighton. Officers said the assault occurred in Queen's Road in central Brighton late on Friday, September 19, into the early hours of Saturday, September 20. Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen or spoken to the victim during that time.
The teenager cannot be identified for legal reasons and is said to be receiving support from specially trained officers. Detective Inspector Matt Stevens said the inquiry is fast-moving and complex, and investigators are keen to trace people who may have interacted with the victim while she was in the city centre. In particular, police would like to speak with an e-scooter rider and a woman who may have checked on the victim’s welfare.
We urge anyone with information to come forward. Sussex Police asked people to share information online or by calling 101 and quoting serial 386 of 20/09. The response from the public could help establish a timeline and identify any other individuals who may have assisted the victim in the centre of Brighton.
The investigation remains active as detectives review surveillance, speak with potential witnesses, and gather evidence to determine what happened and how best to support the victim moving forward. No further details about the victim or the alleged assailant have been released to protect her privacy and investigation integrity.
