Three police officers were killed and two others were injured on Wednesday in York County, Pennsylvania, while serving a warrant, authorities said. The shooter was found dead at the scene, apparently from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and has not been publicly identified, state officials said.
The shooting occurred in North Codorus Township around 2 p.m. local time, according to Pennsylvania State Police. Investigators said the incident involved law enforcement officers and that the shooter died at the scene.
Two officers were transported to WellSpan York Hospital in serious condition, the hospital said. WellSpan said enhanced security protocols were in place at the facility as authorities continued to respond to the situation.
Spring Grove School District issued a shelter-in-place order for a period of time, noting the incident did not involve any of its schools or students. The shelter-in-place was lifted later in the afternoon as authorities gave the all-clear.

Federal authorities were assisting the Pennsylvania State Police investigation. The FBI and ATF said they were providing support, and FBI Director Kash Patel said, "Our prayers are with the officers, their families, and the entire York County community." Attorney General Pam Bondi, in a statement on X, condemned violence against law enforcement, saying, "Violence against law enforcement is a scourge on our society and never acceptable. Pray for the officers involved." Gov. Josh Shapiro and Attorney General Dave Sunday said they were on their way to the scene in separate posts.
The Consulate of Mexico in Philadelphia posted that the Mexican community was advised to follow official instructions and noted that consular assistance would be provided if required. Officials set up a hotline in case consular help was needed.
Pennsylvania State Police and York County emergency management officials said the investigation is ongoing and there is no additional threat to the public at this time.
