A 16-year-old girl died after an incident on the London Underground at Loughton station in Essex on Monday afternoon, the British Transport Police said.

Police and paramedics were called to Loughton station around 14:30 GMT after reports of a casualty on the tracks. The teenager, Daisy House, died in hospital.

Daisy House, 16, had just started sixth form and had her whole future ahead of her, her family said in a statement.

"Our beautiful daughter Daisy lost her life. She was a bright, beautiful, clever, and funny girl who had just started sixth form and had her whole future ahead of her."

"We thank everyone who has sent best wishes, kind messages, and floral tributes. We would now ask for our privacy to be respected while we come to terms with the loss of our Daisy and what life will be like without our daughter."

The family said they appreciated the messages and tributes and asked for privacy as they come to terms with Daisy's death. The incident has prompted an outpouring of condolence from classmates, friends, and members of the community in Essex and beyond.
