Twenty injured in Yemen drone attack on Israel, rescuers and military say
Drone launched from Yemen strikes Eilat on the Red Sea coast; 20 injured, two in serious condition, authorities say.

Twenty people were injured in southern Israel after a drone launched from Yemen struck the Red Sea coast town of Eilat, the Israel Defense Forces said. The IDF said the drone hit the town and that troops and police were dispatched to the area, with efforts to intercept the airborne threat. Magen David Adom said 20 people were taken to Yoseftal Hospital, two of them in serious condition with limb injuries.
IDF said a helicopter was deployed to evacuate the wounded. The military urged residents to stay in protected areas for 10 minutes after alerts.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, though Israeli media described it as a Houthi strike; the Yemeni group has not officially claimed responsibility. If confirmed by authorities, the attack would be among the most serious carried out by the Houthis in terms of casualties.
Context: In July 2024, a Houthi drone attack on Tel Aviv killed one person and wounded 10; in September, a Houthi drone hit Ramon Airport, just north of Eilat. As the situation develops, officials say more details will be released as they become available.
