Urgent appeal to locate missing 77-year-old man with Alzheimer's in London
77-year-old from Merseyside last seen boarding a bus in Colliers Wood toward central London; police say he may be travelling home

London — Police in London issued an urgent appeal Sunday to locate John, a 77-year-old man from Merseyside with Alzheimer's, who was last seen boarding a bus in Colliers Wood heading toward Charing Cross at about 3 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21. The bus is believed to have travelled through parts of south-west London including Clapham, Balham and Tooting. John is considered high risk and vulnerable, and his family and police are concerned for his welfare.
Prior to his disappearance, he had been staying at the Alma Hotel in Wandsworth. CCTV captured him leaving the hotel around 2 a.m. wearing a blue blazer and brown shoes. He has not used his card or phone since last being seen. John, 77, was visiting London from Merseyside to see friends.
Officials believe he may be attempting to travel home to Liverpool via central London by public transport. Wandsworth Police issued an urgent appeal: "John was last seen leaving a hotel in Old York Road at around 2 a.m. today. The 77-year-old is visiting London from Merseyside may be attempting to travel home on public transport via central London."
John's family described being left devastated and extremely worried, and pleaded for the public to come forward with any information. Anyone with sightings should call 999, quoting 01/7996439/25.
Authorities say the search continues as officers review CCTV and trawl contact points across central London in an effort to locate John as quickly as possible.
